Booth Fire & Safety History
Founded by Mr. B.J.Booth as “Fire Control Company”, the husband and wife team of B.J. and Linda started going door to door to sell and service fire extinguishers. Originally from West Virginia, the Booths moved to Lexington KY in 1961. In 1964 they sought a new home for themselves and their fledgling business in Bowling Green, KY.
The early years consisted of recharging fire extinguishers out of the back of B.J.’s station wagon. With steady growth, they were able to rent a space for their company on College Street in downtown.
In 1995, Doug Gorman began his career at Booth Fire & Safety as General Manager. Gorman had no previous experience in the business and was trained by both B.J. and his oldest son Tim Booth. In 1999, Doug purchased the assets and business and took over the operation.
Tim Booth continued to work for the business until his retirement after 40 years in the suppression business in 2006.
Gorman was named Bowling green Area Chamber Small Business Person of the year in 2000 and the company has been blessed to have had positive growth for 20 straight years.
Today, Booth Fire & Safety has tripled their workforce and continues to be the leader in South Central Kentucky for the sale and service of fire extinguishers, Fire Alarm systems, Clean Agent Data room systems, kitchen hood systems and more.
Booth Fire & Safety continues to ensure that their customers are protected and their facilities are kept safe by the products, training and services we provide.
